Spirit, Spirit of restlessness
Stir me from placidness
Wind, Wind on the sea
You moved on the waters, you called from the deep,
Then you coaxed up the mountains from the valleys of sleep,
And over the eons you called to each thing,
Awake from your slumbers and rise on your wings.

You swept through the desert,
You stung with the sand,
You goaded your people with a law and a land,
And when they were blinded with their idols and lies,
You spoke through your prophets to open their eyes.

4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
7Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9to another faithm by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy,p to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.
12Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 13For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.

Open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit divine!
2.Open my ears, that I may hear
Voices of truth thou sendest clear;

5Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven living in Jerusalem. 6And at this sound the crowd gathered and was bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in the native language of each. 7Amazed and astonished, they asked, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? 8And how is it that we hear, each of us, in our own native language? 9Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes 11Cretans and Arabs — in our own languages we hear them speaking about God’s deeds of power.” 12All were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?” 13But others sneered and said, “They are filled with new wine.”
,br> 14But Peter, standing with the eleven, raised his voice and addressed them, “Men of Judea and all who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to what I say. 15Indeed, these are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only nine o’clock in the morning. 16No, this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel:
17‘In the last days it will be,God declares,
that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh,
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
and your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams.
18Even upon my slaves, both men and women,
in those days I will pour out my Spirit;
and they shall prophesy.
19And I will show portents in the heaven above
and signs on the earth below,
blood, and fire, and smoky mist.
20The sun shall be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood,
before the coming of the Lord’s great and glorious day.
21Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’”
Re-awaken our love for God, let your flames warm our hearts with trust in Jesus Christ and dare us to do great things in his name.

Wind of the Spirit, blow through us and give us energy to serve you in Christ’s church.
Open our eyes to recognize needs for ministry and mission, and to learn from this time when we have had to do things differently in worship and pastoral care.
Open our hearts to connect with those for whom the time of social distancing has been very difficult.
Open our hands to share in the tasks that need doing, and open our lips in prayer and praise.
Spirit of Power and Promise,
Blow through us and renew our faith.
Wind of the Spirit, blow through us and give us understanding:
For those whose lives seem so different from ours
and those facing situations because of the pandemic that we didn’t encounter;
Understanding for those with whom we’ve disagreed;
and for problems and challenges we will now face at home, at work, and in your world as we try to recover from the effects of coronavirus.
Spirit of Power and Promise,
Blow through us and renew our faith.
Wind of the Spirit, blow through us and bring healing
for all who face pain or illness, discouragement or disappointment,
made so much keener because of isolation;
healing for all who know sorrow, sadness or grief,
and for those who face stress and pressure as they try to rebuild their lives.
Bring healing to the earth, to places of upheaval and to ecosystems at risk.
Spirit of Power and Promise,

WELCOME
Welcome Prayer
Holy Spirit, we gather as a church body to celebrate and remember the very first Pentecost. It was then that you worked in new and mysterious ways offering a charge to those receiving your Spirit. Today, let us hear your voice, feel the Spirit and understand our charge. Move within us, through us and in this technology today to renew in your church the charge to live and exclaim the Good News.Amen.

Call to Confession
The world would have us hide our mistakes and put on masks of perfection and invulnerability. But the Spirit beckons us to take off our masks, admit our mistakes and allow ourselves to be vulnerable before a merciful and loving God. With the confidence of those who are truly loved and accepted, let us confess our sins together.Prayer of Confession
God of rushing wind and dancing flames, we confess that we have too often resisted the urge of the Spirit and turned away from those who are different. You seek to enlarge our understanding and bridge our divides, but we cling to that which is comfortable and known. We have hoarded our resources out of fear rather than following the example of your earliest church and sharing with all as any have need. Forgive our lack of trust in You. Fill us with your Holy Spirit, personally and as the church, as on that first Pentecost. Embolden us to live renewed and transformed lives as disciples, as we take this moment for silent reflection...Assurance of Pardon
The good news and blessed truth is this: God’s Spirit is already here and at work in each of us personally and communally. Even now our mistakes and pretenses have fallen away and we are seen by God and claimed as God’s own beloved.Friends, hear and trust the good news:

Spirit of God, at Pentecost you moved among the gathered disciples to create new understanding. So move among us this day to fill us with a fresh understanding of the Scriptures. Energize us to act on this holy wisdom faithfully, in the name of Jesus Christ, the Living Word.Amen.

God of every good gift and source of abundance, take these our gifts and tithes and use them in your service. Multiply them by the power of your Holy Spirit that they may kindle faith where it lies dormant, spark compassion for those whose lives are even now being formed and ignite us to action on behalf of the most vulnerable.
