Help us to use this gift to speak words of justice and truth into situations where people are exploited or treated unfairly. Guide our actions so that we might influence change for good in the world, and bring hope to the hopeless.
You give the gift of serving, O God, in the example of your Son Jesus.
Help us to use this gift to serve those who have been cast aside by structures of power and privilege, increase our awareness of injustice and our dedication to work with those who suffer its effects. May this abundance we share in our country touch every life and community in this land.
God of wisdom, you give the gift of teaching.
Help us to use this gift to ensure that every child has access to education and opportunity. Be with every teacher and every student in the coming months as school adapt to the challenges of Covid-19. Support creative teaching and diligent learning in every school and centre for learning.
God of hope, you give the gift of encouragement.
Help us to use this gift to hearten all who are struggling in these difficult days. Bless us with words and actions to bring comfort to all who mourn, to those coping with mental or physical illness, and to any who feel isolated or left behind.
God of purpose and promise, you give the gift of leadership.
Help us to use this skill to build up our communities and model respectful ways of living and loving. Show us how our churches can be places of support within our neighbourhoods.
God of love, you give the gift of kindness.
Help us be kind to all who cross our paths, even those who anger or upset us. Teach us to be forgiving and reconciling in all our relationships.

Offerings should be placed in the offering plate at the front near the radiator, and at the rear on the table near the exit to minimize social contact.
Children must sit with their parents or relatives. Young children may be taken by their parents to Speer Parlor where the service will be live streaming on the new wall mounted TV. There is no child care or Sunday School available at this time on Sunday AM. Speer Parlor is also air conditioned.
There is also no social, fellowship hour after the worship service. It is important that the little questionnaire regarding your health status today be completed for each person.
We,thankfully, are part of a connectional church. We belong to the Presbytery of Long Island, the Synod of the Northeast, and the Presbyterian Church USA. Each level of governance is based on the principle of a combination of Teaching Elders (Ministers), and Ruling Elders (Elders) for decision making and to fulfill the work of the church. Per capita is important as that is how they are supported with a portion going to each entity which has specific roles and responsibilities. It is important that each member pay their portion or even some extra to cover those individuals who have limited financial resources. Please give generously as early each year as you are able. Thanks!
Each offering is designated to serve a specific mission need. We are a bit late this year in focusing on the Pentecost Offering but that is not a problem. The Pentecost Offering helps our youth begin life in the church with a strong start – a solid foundation of faith formed in the years from childhood through young adulthood. 40% stays with our congregation to support programs for youth, 25 % supports Young Adult Volunteers (YAV), 25 % supports ministries with youth and 10 % is devoted to children at-risk. Proceeds from this offering are used to find the Youth Triennium held every few years at Purdue University. Please contribute, using the special envelope in the pew , as generously as you are able. It is important to enable us to serve the needs of the young people as they journey to become the next church leaders.

Worship Services will continue to be both in person and via internet or phone. Seating will be indicated through signage so as to maintain Social Distancing. Family Groups (Household Groups) can of course sit all together.Offerings should be placed in the offering plate at the front near the radiator, and at the rear on the table near the exit to minimize social contact.

COMPASSION
Through Compassion International we have for several years adopted a little girl who is now about 7 years of age, Priscilla. Donations can be made through placing cash into the large jug for that purpose at the front of the Sanctuary. You can also submit an offering in an envelope marked “Adopt a Child”. While one of our members of the congregation has been very generous and contributes faithfully we need other members to be helpful in supporting this very worthy mission.PER CAPITA OFFERING
The per capita offering for 2020 is $ 38.05 per member. This offering is used to cover the cost of program and mission for our Presbytery, Synod, and General Assembly.We,thankfully, are part of a connectional church. Please pray for my husband, Rev. Dr. Harry Schill, who is facing bile duct cancer. He was the minister at OPC for 13 years.
